We deeply understand and champion the fact that the tiny tots learn best in a friendly environment that allows them to be simply kids, in the first place. We want them to have fun, be happy, feel safe, and grow in confidence as they all deserve a great start. The early years curriculum taught by certified teachers at Meru international school, Tellapur are age-appropriate and equivalent to Kindergarten/Montessori with periodic assessments and reporting tools to track the child’s progress. They lay a strong foundation, help children develop at their own pace, make their own choices, build feelings of competence, emotional attachment, and self-worth. Also, we prepare children for an easy transition to Cambridge Primary and the rest of the Cambridge Pathway, helping them move from play-based learning to teaching that is more structured. With that, we offer the youngest students a valuable introduction to learning at an early age.
Cambridge Early Years is offered at Meru International School, Tellapur. This curriculum has been developed by Cambridge International and Cambridge University Press, both part of the world-renowned University of Cambridge. Typically for 3 to 6 year olds, it is the start of an exciting educational journey that helps young learners develop adequate knowledge, understanding and skills they need to make the best possible start in life. It is built around four areas of child development and offers engaging classroom resources, a range of assessment approaches to measure young learners’ progress. The three levels of early year curriculum are very flexible to cater to every child’s needs, capabilities and interests.
While the young learners struggle in their own areas throughout the educational process, providing the right opportunity to develop right skills and instil a passion for learning lays strong foundation to become lifelong learners. The early years at Meru International school, Tellapur, is all about making sure children are steeped in meaningful experiences in the creation of a child’s first “sense of self” and ability to determine how they should function in relation to other people.
Our classrooms are fondly referred to as think rooms with extended learning hubs to take curiosity beyond the books and the four walls to impart this interesting curriculum! Let’s take a walk through these learning spaces.
One of the most important skills children need to develop is their creativity. Creativity is what children use to write stories, solve problems, play music, design arts and crafts, perform complex math operations and investigate science experiments. We allow their wild imagination to take wings and creativity unleashed.
Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul. It’s more than we think; it is a way for the children to familiarize themselves with the world while exploring and testing their own limits. Apart from providing a weather proofed, pollution free and hygienic play area, the wonder room play area provides a cozy area for safe creative play.
It is our fourth pillar of a child’s education alongside reading, writing and speaking. The digital world provides platforms that allow us to connect, collaborate and open up immense opportunities to learn important issues. Item powers innovation in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago. This is precisely what a child at Meru International Tellapur ICT lab will learn. It encompasses e-learning skills that strengthens thinking and learning in students. Every student is unique and differently paced, the lab supports that while arriving at the same end goals.
Communication is the key! Some of the best ways to improve the communication skills of kids are to work on their articulation, pronunciations and extempore through fun activities such as poetry, storytelling, writing, drama, conversations and dialogues. We promote communication skills early on by helping children make connections between what they hear and what they see. Our classrooms, corridors, the play areas are all hotspots for promoting engaging talks! We have very stimulating conversation times throughout the day in our classrooms where children have access to the why, the who, the where and the what of happenings around us.
Students learn to express themselves in different ways not just verbally. When the arts are integrated in the early childhood curriculum, children get opportunities to express themselves visually what they may not be able to say verbally. Integrating artistic learning in early childhood education allows children to explore their own creativity, spontaneity, imagination, play, experimentation and loosens inhibitions thereby promoting freedom of expression.
