Unveiling the Paradigms of Digital learning during a Pandemic – A case study of Meru International School, Hyderabad.
The word pandemic always depicted the direct fear in the minds of the people regarding deaths, contagions, health supply and economy. But the same word never ever depicted the fear towards education and learning before the inaugural of COVID 19. COVID 19 entered the world and the world stopped. There was a direct impact on the households, businesses, economy, health sector, tourism sector, transport industry and many other areas. Surprisingly, the major set back was faced by the education sector all around the world. The lives of the students, teachers and education managers became tough with no scope of physical presence in the schools/college’s premises.
“Everything can become stagnant, but the learning never does”. This inspiration has evolved as the new diversification towards the education sector. Technology is the new arm, and it has proven its power during these odd hours. Digital learning evolved as the new sector where the new scope is infinite. One can learn, one can study, one can get a degree from any university/schools/colleges, while being at any corner of the world. The only three arms that are required are – a laptop/mobile, an internet connection and a zeal to learn.
Meru International School- EdTech Journey till now!
Meru International School, Hyderabad has taken this new “Mantra” of learning to the next level. The school has dedicatedly put the resources at place for only one motto “No halt in delivering the quality education”. The moment the lockdown was announced, the next moment the ‘Meruvians’ were in their classes, while getting the fun filled quality education with expertise. These classes were Online, leading the EdTech to the new level. As a parent of a ‘Meruvian’, I was surprised to see the things at the proper places in just no time that aids the digital education. Flinnt App gave all the learning materials and proper information of the curriculum. It was so easy to adjust with the app and explore the thematic summary of the curriculum along with the learning material, quizzes, and assignments at one go. Raz kids helped a lot in transforming my child’s reading and intellectual skills while the child gets several rewards as a positive motivation. Initially the zoom classes were used to conduct online sessions, followed by the switch towards G-suite. Both the platforms gave the desired outcomes. Google classrooms helped us a lot in experiencing an individual classroom experience with all the study materials at one place. The school used google forms for any kind of survey, communication, or participation confirmation for or from a student/parent. The MCB provided with the facility of fees payment, raising any concern by the parents, or assessing the report cards for the students.
The best part the school did was ‘Never missed anything digitally that used to be present physically’. Yes, the assembly that forms the first uniform gathering of all the school members together at one place for prayers, communications, activities, house formations, principal’s address and many such factors, was also conducted by the school through ‘Facebook live’. The circle time which is the most essential form of group activities to know about the child’s psychology, to train a child to be an extrovert and to understand the behavioural patterns of an individual child, got a new shape ‘Cubicle time’, where every child expresses him/herself in the same manner while being in their cubicle screens.
Meru international School has tasted all the facets to make the delivery of the education at the best level during this pandemic while exploring every notch and corner that was possible to attain the objectives.
Staff and Engagement!
It is the moment of pride for all the parents whose heart buds’ study at this school, to announce the best prodigy delivered by the best trained teachers and with the exceeding engagement level. The dedication of the staff was unmatched. I do not remember any single day that was missed for online sessions, tests, assignments and even evaluation by the teachers. This school is the live example of ‘Break free’ delivery of education through technology during this pandemic and that counts to be the best.
There were committed competitions, exercises, activities, fun days, festival celebrations, annual days, and many more with excellent delivery. The patience level of the teachers was truly appreciated and at the end the children are more than satisfied, that makes the real sense. My child is everyday excited to join the class and participate in all the activities.
Change and Motivation!
Change is inevitable. Change is required at all the phases of life. To encounter change, there should be some goal, well driven by motivation and with the self-awareness to adjust and proceed accordingly. All these parameters were efficiently judged by the school and considerably disseminated to the end users. The positivity, motivation and the goal were well thought and easily passed to the teachers, students, and their parents. The change is now well sought and accepted by all the end users with optimism.
My child has become so confident, improved in his linguistic skills, became extrovert, received well the healthy prospects of being a human and most importantly has got the flexibility to change and adjust according to the situations in the lives.
